How Umbreon plays

Dance under the moon and leap into the skies with Umbreon’s Unite Move, Moonlight Prance. Umbreon leaps up and snatches the shields of nearby opposing Pokémon for itself before crashing down and leaving them unable to act. Afterward, Umbreon steals a portion of all shields used in the move’s area of effect.

Recommended held items, battle items and move paths for Umbreon.

Foul Snarl (PLEASE READ DESCRIPTION)

Held items

Alternative: Vanguard Bell

Battle item

Alternative: X Speed

Move path

  1. Swift
  2. Fake Tears
  3. Foul Play
  4. Snarl
Resonant Guard and Buddy Barrier are the strongest tools for helping protect allies especially ones who dive into the enemy with you. Best used against high physical damage opponents for Foul Play. If opponents are primarily special damage, then Attack Weight for self damage can be considered for personal damage. Assault Vest, Rocky Helmet can be considered for third item specialized against a composition but are inherently more selfish compared to Buddy Barrier and Resonant Guard. With that in mind, using Assault Vest or Rocky Helmet would be best played with Resonant Guard and Focus Band emphasizing the early game.

Mean Wish (PLEASE READ DESCRIPTION)

Held items

Alternative: Focus Band

Battle item

Alternative: X Speed

Move path

  1. Swift
  2. Fake Tears
  3. Mean Look
  4. Wish
Attack Weight at six stacks is superior to Rescue Hood for Wish and offers damage threat with Mean Look boosted attacks and is applicable to Wish being cast on self. Attack Weight encourages scoring early in order to achieve evolution at level 4 applying pressure at that stage of the game. Focus Band similarly offers early game pressure. An entirely early game focused set can see use of Resonant Guard, Attack Weight and Focus Band. As a general effect, removing Buddy Barrier's reactivity to protect allies and a general weaker state of Umbreon self-shield Unite if opponents do not have shields to steal. Resonant Guard offers the greatest value for early, mid and late game and should be considered the most valuable item without extremely specific circumstances. Rescue Hood with Attack Weight as a two-pair of items results in the highest amount of healing in the late game with Wish. Resonant Guard, Attack Weight, Buddy Barrier offeers early defensive pressure to self and ally with evolution and damage pressure through attack weight stacks that transitions into late game heal scaling while keeping reactivity of Buddy Barrier. Rescue Hood, Attack Weight, Resonant Guard when playing together with your teammate(s) offers pressure early via damage and evolution speed through Attack Weight and its stacks coupled with stronger shields from Resonant Guard and is most ideal if the teammate receives more focused damage since the Resonant Guard shield wll be stronger on the ally. Focus Band, Attack Weight and Resonant Guard emphasizes personal pressure early and may be more optimal for situations where you end up playing more separated from your ally. Resonant Guard, Buddy Barrier, Focus Band allows for a pressure through bulk and boosted healing through Swift early game and is most ideal when Umbreon is the primary target of opponents, that can then transition to late game reactive protection with Buddy Barrier. Buddy Barrier, Attack Weight, Rescue Hood is an entirely late game scaling combination offering the highest heals and best reactive shielding, however lacks generic frequency of support through Resonant Guard and lacks generic damage soak capability without Focus Band. Buddy Barrier, Attack Weight, Focus Band offers weaker early game strength compared to using Resonant Guard but stronger top-off healing with Wish from Attack Weight. Buddy Barrier, Resonant Guard, Rescue Hood is more late game focused but has some early value through Resonant Guard shielding to allies and would be best for if the ally is very high damage oriented. Rescue Hood, Attack Weight, Focus Band should not be played- Attack Weight and Rescue Hood being played together suggests an emphasis on healing or supporting allies with Wish but Focus Band does not offer any benefit to allies.

Moves 5

Both upgrade branches are shown for each move — you only pick one.

When Eevee would be shoved, thrown or left unabled to act, that effect is negated. This effect goes on a 40s cooldown after being triggered and is reset after respawning.
